From "Is Now a Good Time to Buy?" to Automated Market Intelligence

I wanted to know when Bitcoin dips are worth buying. My AI built a complete analysis system that runs every morning.

I trade crypto. Not day trading—strategic accumulation during fear, selling during greed. The problem: I'd check prices randomly, miss good entries, or panic during drops without historical context. I wanted something simple: Wake up, check a report, know if today matters. "Build me a daily market analysis system. BTC price, drawdown from ATH, funding rates, fear & greed, on-chain metrics. Alert me when something is significant."

The Request

I wanted intelligence, not data: 1. BTC status — Price, ATH, drawdown percentage, 24h/7d changes 2. Sentiment indicators — Fear & Greed Index, funding rates (are longs overleveraged?) 3. On-chain health — Stablecoin supply, TVL trends, Open Interest 4. Macro context — DXY, correlation with risk assets 5. Smart alerts — Only tell me when something actually matters Not a dashboard. Not charts I have to interpret. A morning briefing that tells me: pay attention today, or ignore the market.

What Got Built

My colleague built a complete market intelligence system:

  • 5 data sources — Binance (price, funding, OI), Yahoo Finance (DXY, S&P500, Gold), DefiLlama (stablecoins, TVL), Alternative.me (Fear & Greed)
  • Daily automation — Cron job runs every morning at 8 AM, updates all data, generates report
  • Smart alerts — Only fires when: drawdown >20%, extreme fear/greed, high funding, stablecoin outflows, TVL drops
  • Historical analysis — find_setups.py analyzes all 30%+ BTC drops and their rebounds
  • Correlation tracking — How does BTC correlate with DXY, S&P500, Gold right now?

What It Looks Like

Every morning at 8 AM, I get this: ============================================================ DAILY CRYPTO MARKET REPORT - 2026-01-06 ============================================================ 📈 BTC STATUS Current Price: $93,214 All-Time High: $126,200 Drawdown from ATH: 26.1% 24h Change: -0.6% 7d Change: +6.4% 💰 FUNDING RATE Current: 0.0028% 30d Average: 0.0057% 😱 FEAR & GREED INDEX Current: 44 (Fear) ⛓️ ON-CHAIN Stablecoin MCap: $307.2B (7d: +0.3%) Total TVL: $127.1B (7d: +8.9%) ⚡ ALERTS ⚡ WARNING: BTC drawdown > 20% (26.1%) I scan it in 30 seconds. Today: worth paying attention to.

The Reality

Before: I'd check CoinGecko randomly. Miss dips. Panic during drops without knowing if they were significant historically. Now: I wake up, check one report, and know: - Are we in a significant drawdown? (>20%) - Is sentiment extreme? (Fear <25 = opportunity) - Are longs overleveraged? (High funding = potential correction) - Is money flowing in or out? (Stablecoin supply) The system has historical context built in. When BTC drops 30%+, it shows me: "Previous 30%+ drops averaged +27% rebound in 1 week, +36% in 4 weeks." That's not data. That's decision support.

Why This Matters

Most traders stare at charts. They check prices 50 times a day. They react emotionally to every candle. I check one report per day. The system tells me when to pay attention and when to ignore the noise. This took one conversation to build. Now it runs automatically, updates its own data, and gives me institutional-grade market intelligence every morning. I'm not a better trader because I watch more. I'm a better trader because I built a system that watches for me. That's the difference between using AI and building with AI.
